Having been quoted by several different companies to build an extension we came across S&A Builders and were immediately struck by the professional look of their website.
After our first meeting with Steve we had pretty much decided that S&A were the company we wanted to use providing they came in with a competitive quote - which they did!
From day one of the work we were able to sit back and watch Anthony and his team just get on with the job with a minimum of fuss but the maximum amount of professionalism.
At every step of the build Anthony and Steve kept us fully informed down to the most minute detail and while their work is quick, they still manage to maintain the highest standards of finish.
Being on site every day Anthony was able to continually offer us advice as to how to get the best possible finished product - which we believe we now have.
Perhaps the biggest compliment we can pay them is that for much of the project it didn't actually feel like a building site. Each day every tool and piece of machinery was stored away and the site was meticulously cleaned before they left.
We would - and have - recommended S&A to anyone looking to undertake a building project.

We employed Steve/S&A Builders to complete the loft conversion on our bungalow. Having had plenty of issues with architects, we finally got planning permission, and Steve came on board and immediately took control of the project. From the outset his approach was very professional and helpful. When problems arose he was able to offer creative and imaginative solutions, to the extent that our loft space is now much more useable that it would've been had we stuck to the original plans. Throughout the project his communication was excellent and the quality of the work is top notch. Would I recommend Steve and S&A Builders? Well, we plan to ask them back to convert the outbuildings in our garden!

It isn’t often I feel obliged to write and commend a company for how well they have transacted their business with me, but this is indeed one of those occasions. I feel it’s important to record our families thanks to both Steve and Anthony of ‘S+A’ for their superb commitment to our house extension work, completed recently.
There is always a risk in choosing a company needing to perform major ‘building surgery’ on your home. My wife and I were particularly conscious of this, having chosen badly previously. But from the first time Steve came to view my job, I warmed to his personality, we established a rapport and I quickly developed a real confidence in his advice.
I was always aware my extension he was there to quote on, was an ‘awkward, difficult job.’ Three previous builders had already quoted for it and all had made similar observations. Steve, while aware of those difficulties was able to ‘visualise the extension’ based on the plans and my description of how I hoped it would look. It says a lot for S+A that they were prepared to work through those problems while the other builders turned it down.
When I then met Anthony, Steve’s brother, I was impressed with his friendly manner, skills and committed attitude to the job. Anthony was the one who did most of the day to day construction work and the best way to describe his approach to my home, was to say he couldn’t have put more thought, patience and effort into it, if he’d been working on his own home. His attention to detail was a major contributory factor to the success of the job. The end result of his efforts have delighted my wife and I, it has created a more modern house, provided more living space and significantly increased its market value at the same time. Anthony’s dedication has transformed our family house into a home we’re justifiably proud of.
S+A worked here for several months and we got to know the various individuals of this essentially family business really well. It’s true to say they are both genuine and trustworthy, this is also true of their excellent support team, like Jonathan. Although each of the boys working here genuinely became like family friends, all adopting a professional, but ‘easy going’ attitude, all contributing to the creation of a pleasant working atmosphere, it was a real pleasure to have them in our home. I’d have no hesitation in recommending them to my family and friends should they require work to be undertaken.
Thank you Steve + Anthony for what you have achieved on our behalf at our home. You proved yourselves to be an excellent choice of builders. Linda and I would like to wish you all the best of luck for the future.

I would just like to thank Steve and his team for an excellent job. Our extension was built in good time with little or no mess during the project. The overall finish was top class. And we were kept informed of what was going to happen next at every stage of the build.

We are both delighted with our double extension and the standard of work undertaken in its building.
We initially had Steve and the boys to build our conservatory base in 2003 and owing to the high standard of work asked them to return.
We would highly recommend Steve and his team to any potential customers. Two and a half years on from the construction of our extension and the quality is still there to be seen. The site was left clean and tidy at all stages with safety always in mind.
The Upvc specialist carpenters fitted the entire framework and roof in two days and it looks outstanding. Awesome.
